Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” — Sleek, Spooky and OG

Black nubuck, Picante Red, glow-in-the-dark details and Nike Air on the heel make this Halloween release feel special without turning it into a costume.

There’s something about an all-black Air Jordan that already feels right for Halloween.

The upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” takes that idea and runs with it, giving one of Jordan Brand’s most recognizable silhouettes a dark, sleek makeover with just enough glow and color to make things interesting.

At first glance, it’s the blacked-out look that gets me. Premium black nubuck covers the upper, giving the shoe a clean, almost stealthy appearance. Picante Red cuts across the signature jagged midsole, while glow-in-the-dark details add another personality once the lights go down.

Halloween Without the Costume

The Air Jordan 5 already has plenty of attitude. The netted quarter panels, oversized tongue, lace locks, padded collar and shark-tooth-inspired midsole give the silhouette a look that doesn’t need much extra help.

That’s why this colorway works. The Halloween theme is there, but it doesn’t take over the shoe. The mostly black build stays wearable, the red brings the right amount of contrast, and the glow details are there for a little fun after dark.

It feels like a Halloween sneaker, but not one you have to put away on November 1.

The Detail That Really Gets Me: Nike Air

Then there’s the part that really puts this release over the top for me: Nike Air on the heel.

I’ve always been a big sucker for the originals. On classic Jordan silhouettes, I personally prefer the Nike Air branding over the Jordan insignia on the back. It’s a small detail, but it gives the shoe that extra bit of OG character — and on an Air Jordan 5, it just feels right.

I also love how black and sleek this pair is. It gives the Jordan 5 a clean, stealthy look while the Halloween details keep it from feeling ordinary.

Some holiday releases are fun for the moment but can feel very specific once the holiday passes. I don’t see that happening here. This feels like a pair that can keep going through fall, winter and well beyond Halloween.

Shervarino Take

This one checks a lot of boxes for me.

The black nubuck keeps it clean. The Picante Red adds just enough contrast. The glow-in-the-dark elements make it fun. And then you put Nike Air on the heel.

That combination makes this feel like the kind of release that can bring a little fun and excitement to almost anyone’s collection — while still staying true to what makes the Air Jordan 5 such a great silhouette.
